Michigan Tech’s World Water Day Moves Online

Michigan Tech will celebrate Environment Water Working day March 23 and 24 with speakers, an artwork
exhibit and poster competition—virtually.

Just a week following relocating instruction on the internet for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester,
Michigan Technological College will celebrate Environment Water Working day in the exact same vogue.

Environment Water Working day is a United Nations function celebrated on a yearly basis to elevate consciousness of

Keynote speaker Joellen Russell is using robotic floats and supercomputers to evaluate
the ocean and forecast potential weather. She will supply the Environment Water Working day keynote
address by way of Zoom on March 23 from four to six p.m. Russell is the Thomas R. Brown Distinguished
Chair of Integrative Science and a professor of geosciences, planetary science, hydrology
and atmospheric sciences and utilized math at the College of Arizona. Russell’s

Youth speaker Sophia Kianni will give her address about weather advocacy and her experiences
as a youth leader by Zoom March 24 from 12:thirty to two p.m. Kianni is a youth weather
