U.S. Customs brings facial biometric comparison technology to the Port of Baltimore


BALTIMORE — U.S. Customs and Border Protection has begun working with facial biometric comparison technology to look at some of the people today disembarking ships at the Port of Baltimore, according to authorities.

The federal company worked with Carnival Cruise Line to broaden its biometrics initiatives, which can set up a traveler’s identification in just two seconds, governing administration officers claimed.

Travellers will pause for a picture when leaving cruise vessels at the port and then that photograph will be compared to an existing passport or visa photo in secure Division of Homeland Security units, according to authorities.

The person’s identity will be verified biometrically with more than 98% precision, governing administration officials reported.
